MP Dreeshen's Statement on the Conservative Party of Canada Leadership Vote

February 02, 2022

Ottawa, Ontario - Today as a Conservative Caucus, the difficult decision was made to remove Erin O'Toole as leader of our party. I have heard from constituents expressing how important it is for us to be a united party that stands up for their rights and concerns against a divisive and corrupt liberal government. As one door closes another opens, and we must now work to rebuild the trust among each other while remaining rooted in our values and committed to listening to all Canadians. We must continue to be relentless in our quest to unite ourselves and heal both our party and our country.

I want to thank Erin for his service. Being the Leader, especially in times like these, is a sacrifice of an incredibly personal nature and I extend my gratitude to Erin and his family for all they have done on our behalf.

This is the path forward to a common goal of returning to normalcy while remaining steadfast as proud Canadians. Our core conservative values of hard work, respect, and fairness are what make our party and this country great. It is paramount that we champion these unique traits that make us exceptional.

I look forward to working with the new leader and continuing to fight on behalf of my constituents of Red Deer- Mountain View.
