MP Dreeshen Tables Petition in the House of Commons in Support of Families for Justice

April 20, 2015

April 20, 2015, Ottawa - Earl Dreeshen, Member of Parliament for Red Deer today tabled a petition on behalf of Families for Justice, a group composed of Canadians who have had a loved one killed by an impaired driver. They believe that Canada’s impaired driving laws are far too lenient. Families for Justice are calling for mandatory sentencing for vehicular homicide and for this Parliament to support c-652 Kassandra’s law.

“I have been approached by constituents to present this petition and I do so in honor of Colton TB Keeler and Tyson Vanderzwaag,” said Dreeshen, “Colton and Tyson were teenagers from my riding of Red Deer who were tragically killed by a drunk driver in 2012.”

“Colton and Tyson's deaths are a tragedy, and sadly the Keeler and Vanderzwaag families are not alone, thousands of families every year have to experience the same anguish and suffering because of the stupid decision by some to drive impaired.”

Families for Justice are calling for mandatory sentencing for vehicular homicide and for this Parliament to support C-652 Kassandra’s law.
